Which isn't to say there aren't genuinely spooky areas and scary moments. There are ominous, off-screen sounds when you get close to one of Core Keeper's bosses. Overcoming the bosses requires a keen sense of strategy, so strengthen your character with purpose or suffer a swift end to your journey.

The survival game genre often relies on repetition to pad out game time. You find a copper pickaxe to mine iron, tin pickaxe to mine iron, iron pickaxe to mine [the next best thing] and so on. Core keeper does the same, and while I wouldn't criticize it for just doing this, it's something I have to mention given that non-e of the other progressions feel meaningful either. A large reason for why terraria works is that when you come across a chest with an item, that item will likely modify how you play the game mechanically.

Roots pelo longer continue spawning in explored areas in the crystal biome. Environmental objects will no longer continue to spawn right next to the world edge. Fixed an issue where objects would not be rendered after the player was killed by a hydra boss.

You’ll have goals in mind, sure — maybe you want to find a certain ore to craft a certain helmet with a certain perk before facing a boss — but it can be just as easy to pick a direction, any direction, and start tunneling.
